The Canadian High Commission (CHC) in Nairobi, acting for the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), has a requirement for the services of an experienced, motivated and dynamic leader to manage a $CAD 6 million fund for gender equality in Kenya. The Fund makes financial contributions to projects proposed by the Government of Kenya and Kenyan non-state organizations, which aim at enhancing women’s rights and contributing to the reduction of impediments that preclude women from fully contributing to and benefiting from Kenya’s development. This competitive process is to select an individual (not a firm or organization) to act as a Program Director. The estimated total contract duration is for an initial period of three (3) years with an option to extend for an additional two years subject to availability of funds.
Mandatory Criteria
Consultants must meet all of the mandatory criteria below. Consultants will have to provide a Curriculum Vitae (CV) with an accompanying text not to exceed two (2) pages demonstrating how they meet the following mandatory criteria.
1) Must be a Kenyan citizen or a Kenyan resident who is legally and operationally able to work in Nairobi, Kenya;
2) Must hold at least a Masters degree from a reputable institution of higher learning (recognized by the Ministry of Education / Commission for Higher Education) in any social science field including international development, gender studies, human rights or a related field;
3) Must have at least five (5) years of experience in the area of gender equality and social protection development issues at policy, program planning and implementation level;
4) Must have at least eight (8) years of relevant working experience in the following fields: project management; financial planning and management, or development cooperation with a national or an international development oriented organization;
5) Must be fluent in written and spoken English and Kiswahili;
6) Must be available to travel frequently all around Kenya.
